Global Limited Warranty
When you put a global limited warranty in place for your product, you give customers peace of mind knowing that you’ll repair any problem within the timeframes specified in your warranty policy.
Two major types of warranties are available for products today – manufacturer warranties and extended service plans (ESP).
The manufacturer’s warranty typically covers repairs for 30 days after purchase. After that period expires, most consumers no longer own the product and may be forced to buy another version of the same device. This creates an inconvenience and often results in frustration when technicians cannot find faults in devices that seem to function normally. A global limited warranty provides consumers with assurance that they will be able to replace their gadgets with confidence when problems arise.
ESPs are an extension of the manufacturer’s warranty. Customers pay monthly premiums for extended coverage on their gear. Extended service plans cover parts, labour and more. Because they are usually sold separately from manufacturers’ warranties, ESPs are frequently marketed under separate brands.
A typical global limited warranty costs $1 per day. It includes various services such as replacement of defective components, installation of accessories, shipping charges and even the return of postage fees. Consumers also receive a standard 24-hour customer support hotline. Most importantly, there is zero out-of-pocket expense to them.
While it’s hard to say which type of warranty is better, they each provide benefits for different situations. For example, a consumer who accidentally drops his laptop might decide to spend the money for an extended service plan while skipping the manufacturer’s warranty because he doesn’t need the extra protection. However, if you have a broken screen and need to replace it immediately, you would probably choose the manufacturer’s warranty.
Global limited warranties are also easier to access than manufacturer warranties once you determine that repairs are needed. While you could call the manufacturer directly and ask for assistance, calling an authorised dealer may yield faster action.
Difference between a global limited warranty and a local limited warranty
There are two main types of warranties. A limited warranty means the vendor must repair or replace parts as needed within a specified period. The second type is called a full warranty, which covers repairs for any reason throughout the product’s lifetime.
A global limited warranty applies to a wide range of products such as cars, appliances, furniture etc.
It is usually offered when the manufacturer knows its product might fail. If a local warranty exists, a global warranty will provide coverage internationally.
The difference is that a local warranty is limited to the country or region where the product was purchased, whereas a global warranty covers worldwide.
A limited global guarantee may also include extended service contracts. This allows technicians to perform maintenance checks and repairs without charging extra for each visit.
